AI Alignment Nodes: The Backbone of 0G’s AI-Verified Infrastructure

Decentralized AI cannot prioritize speed and scale alone. It also requires mechanisms for oversight, trust, and accountability. Who confirms that an AI agent's response was correct? Who enforces the logic that underpins fine-tuned model behavior? And who ensures that offchain computations can be verified onchain, without bottlenecks or centralized control?
At 0G, our answer to these questions is AI Alignment Nodes.
What Are AI Alignment Nodes?
AI Alignment Nodes act as independent verifiers across 0G’s architecture. While traditional blockchain nodes focus on consensus and block validation, AI Alignment Nodes continuously monitor other core nodes (validator, storage, and DA) to ensure that operations and AI outputs remain accurate, reliable, and aligned with their intended behavior.
In short, AI Alignment Node participants are essential for:
- Protocol Monitoring: Ensuring that validator, storage, and security nodes comply with network protocols.
- AI Model Monitoring: Tracking AI model alignment and checking for any unintended behavior.
- Network Security: Safeguarding the ecosystem by flagging deviations and ensuring consistent ethical standards.
- Economic and Governance Roles: Node holders may earn rewards and participate in governance decisions, influencing the network’s direction.
AI Alignment Node Roles: Owners and Operators
The alignment node system introduces a dual-role structure that separates economic participation from operational complexity:
Node Owners
Node Owners are economic participants in the system. They purchase node licenses, which entitle them to receive rewards when the corresponding node is operating properly. These users can use 0G’s web portal to view, manage, and delegate their licenses, and can undelegate at any time if they choose to switch providers or self-host.
Node Operators
Node Operators are the technical participants who run the nodes, in exchange for a share of the Owner’s rewards. These operators can either be professional Node-as-a-Service (NAAS) providers or independent users, but must meet specific hardware, bandwidth, and whitelisting requirements to be eligible.
Generally, this entails the below process:
- A Node Owner delegates a license to an Operator through the portal.
- The Operator accepts the delegation and begins running the node.
- The node performs tasks such as inference jobs and begins generating rewards.
- Rewards are automatically distributed between the Owner and Operator based on the agreed terms. KYC is required in order to claim rewards (see the KYC guide for more details).
Token Claims & Vesting
15% of 0G’s total token supply is allocated to AI Alignment Node holders. One-third of their total node rewards will be available upon TGE (subject to withdrawal penalties) and the remaining two-thirds vest linearly over 36 months daily. For detailed information, please review the Distribution Schedule & Eligibility and Extra Allocations via Token Redistributions.
If you haven’t already, please complete KYC through 0G’s node portal to activate your node license. All tokens allocated to node holders are visible in the claim site.
Coordinating the Future of Onchain AI
In order to transition AI from a privately owned service to a genuine public good, we must have the proper safeguards in place to ensure that the infrastructure AI runs on can be verifiably trusted.
AI Alignment Nodes are designed to address this challenge, and represent a critical layer of verifiability, accountability, and open coordination in a world increasingly mediated by intelligent software.
In other words, AI should be free, but it should also be accountable. 0G’s AI Alignment Nodes make the future of AI safe.
